2001.12.15 Open House at Hsi Fang Temple San Diego San Diego, USA

About 100 American, most of them neighbors, attended open house party at Hsi Fang Temple San Diego on Sunday, Dec 15 and all had a wonderful time.

Ven. Manguei, supervisor of the Temple, hosted the program and extended her warm welcome to all the guests. She sincerely hoped that the friendship between His Fang Temple and the neighbors would be long lasting.

This year's program started with a Santa Claus welcome at registration desk following with a guided tours of demonstration of Chinese calligraphy and painting, marshal art, tea ceremony, and introduction of book store, library and Buddha's Hall.

After a sumptuous vegetarian dinner, which all guests thoroughly enjoyed, Wendy Lee, president of BLIA San Diego, welcomed the evening's guests and introduced the origin and objectives of BLIA. 

Presentations of Chinese marshal art and musical instruments followed. The guests were impressed with the various types of Tai Chi marshal art including sword, fan, and kungfu. Performances of Chinese instruments, tzeng and er hu, and Taiwanese folk dance were highlights of the evening.

In keeping with the holiday spirit, a raffle with many wonderful prizes delighted all audience and all small children received gifts from Santa Claus. 

BLIA San Diego, lead by President Wendy Lee, sponsored the event with the support of Ven. Manguei. This year's open house provided another opportunity for the local community to learn more about Hsi Fang Temple, building mutual friendship and understanding with friends and neighbors.
