2001.11.12 Master Hsing Yun's talk in Fukuoka Tokyo, Japan

On November 12th, Master Hsing Yun gave a talk to the devotees at FGS Fukuoka Temple to which about one hundred people, including Taiwan's representative to Japan and his wife (Mr.& Mrs. Huang), attended.  Ven. Tzu Hui translated the talk into Japanese for the benefit of the general audience.  When explaining the term “impermanence”, Master Hsing Yun gave examples using the incidents of the 9-21 Taiwan earthquake and 9-11 terrorist caused disaster in New York.  In answering questions, Master Hsing Yun said that returning violence with violence is not a favorable reaction.  Only through applying compassion and tolerance will hatred cease.  He also advised the audience that one should practice patience and tolerance in daily life in order to generate an enlightened mind.  After the talk, everybody left joyfully taking away two of Master's books, Humble Table, Wise Fare and Between Ignorance and Enlightenment.
