On October 9th sixteen members of BLIA Sikkim Chapter donated their blood at the Sir Thutob Namgyal Memorial Hospital. G.S. Lama, president of the Chapter said, “Donation of blood is the greatest gift one can give, because it is the gift of life”.
On October 10th, under the guidance of the Health and Family Welfare Department, informed parents of the surrounding area to bring all children below the age of five for administering polio immunizations. The Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) program was held at the Nepali Sahitya Parishad Bhayan and Sir Tashi Namgyal Semon Secondary Schools, and successfully gave immunizations to 371 children.
On October 11th and 12th, some BLIA volunteers accompanied medical personnel on house visits and administered immunizations to those children who were not brought to the schools. A total of 1122 houses were visited by the team in two days.
