BLIA Participated in the Frankfurt Book Fair 2009

Frankfurt, Europe

The world’s biggest 61st Frankfurt Book Fair was held on 14 to 18 October, 2009. This book fair is not just the communication of author’s thoughts, but also the best chance to contact E-Media. More than 100 countries and 7300 stands attend this fair, which attracted about 299,000 people, 10,000 reporters, and 2500 exhibitions. It could be the grand world’s press event.

China was the first time to be invited as the host country. Thus, it formed a huge delegation with 272 publication institutions and more than 50 authors and scholars to participate. In addition, China invested about 500 Euros to translate 100 works into German or English.

Venerable Yung-Chao(永超法師), and Venerable Miao-Xiang(妙祥法師) represented the Buddha Light Cultural Company to join this book fair. Because China was the host country, we displayed a lot of books and booklets written by Venerable Master Hsing Yun in simplified Chinese as well as the translation works of German, English, France, Spanish, Portugal, Swiss and Thai. We hoped people form China and all over the world understood the BLIA culture not only serving internationally, but also showed the culture and religion between China and Taiwan are equality, and our communication is peacefully. Obviously, the political issue is melted by religion tolerance.

We welcomed all the coming people with “Book and Tea”, “Dharma and Calligraphy”. Venerable Yung-Chao(永超法師) wrote the Dharma words and presented to those came to visit. Most of the comers in stead of picking the Dharma words by themselves, asked the Venerable to give them the Dharma words according to their characteristics. Thus, the Dharma words such as “Freeness” or “Let Go” are more prevalent.

The person in charge of the “Tea and Zen”, Ms. Lin, qi-zhu(林其姝), has been living in German for about 20 years, and has been running tea house in Mainz for about 10 years. She prepared the tea agilely with her familiarity with tea working and human relation in additional with the Buddhist books and music as the background. It made those browsing through the books joined the “Tea and Zen”. They praised the sense of tea of Buddha Light culture really extraordinary.

Vania, from Brazil, with language background of Spanish, Portugal, English, German, and fluent Mandarin in Beijing promoted Buddha Light culture. She was trained and worked in Hugenbubel, the biggest bookstore of German for several years. She, with the Brazil enthusiasm, introduced Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s books in Chinese, German and English increasing the lively persuasion.

The publishers and authors from all over the world are impressed with the peaceful and literature aura of BLIA. The famous authors from China and Taiwan such as Hong Qi-Song(洪啟嵩), Fan Ji-Hong(范繼紅), the director of Chinese Copyright Protection Center, and Dai Qin(戴琴) particularly came to visit.
