1. Theme :

WE CAN END POVERTY

2. Qualification :

Children from age 5 to 15 years.

3. Requirement :

The entry should be made on paper or canvas A4 size or comparable.  You may use ink, pencil, charcoal, crayon, water colour, marker, or any material that you might have available in your environment.  Each design should be accompanied by a brief description of its meaning on separated note.  Please DO NOT frame the art work.

5. Selection :

1)

All detailed procedures for competition should consult the Deputy Secretary of your region, except the chapters of Multiple-Language division.  All participating entries shall be displayed publicly during Buddha¡¦s Light Day event in May, 2007.

Every region shall select maximum 6 best designs.  World Headquarters office will send to the United Nations, with the selected designs from Multiple-Language division, for entering the UN¡¦s International Children¡¦s Art Competition.

3)

The 6 best designs will be announced by the United Nations during the commemoration of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty in October 17, 2007.  These 6 best designs will be issued as stamps by the United Nations Postal Administration.

4)

In addition, 20 other designs will be awarded special commendations by the United Nations.  All 26 designs will be displayed in a special exhibition at the UN¡¦s New York Headquarters in 2007.

6. Criteria :

UN¡¦s criteria for evaluation: Artistic expression, how well the design expresses the theme of the competition.

7. Deadline :

Please send the design, with separated information requested, no later the June 10, 2007 to World Headquarters for delivering to the United Nations.

8. Remarks :

This event is designed for participating the UN¡¦s art competition for children.  The interested chapter shall actively design related education program to encourage children participation.
