THE SIX POINTS OF REVERENT HARMONY OF THE SANGHA
In Buddhism, there is what’s called the “triple gem.” They are the Buddha gem, Dharma gem, and Sanga gem. Because the Buddha, Dharma, and Sanga are all very precious and difficult to obtain, they are therefore referred to as “gems.”
The Buddha gem refers to an individual who has the wisdom and practice to the highest level. Such individual not only recognizes the truth of the universe, they are able to apply these truths in their daily lives, so that they are constantly practicing right action and thought. These individuals will also at all times assist others to attain enlightenment.
So long as we diligently learn from the Buddha, and stay away from the evils of this world, practicing right action and right thought, we too can become the Buddha.
Let us all strive to become the Buddhas of the future!

2. To recognize the truth of the universe, and to apply these truths to daily lives, so that one is constantly practicing right action and right thought is referred to as “self awakening.” To help others to attain enlightenment is referred to as “awakening others.” To practice “self awakening” and “awakening others” to perfection, is called “complete awakening.” In turn, “self awakening,” “awakening others,” and “complete awakening,” is together referred to as “the triple awakening” and is a state attained by the Buddha during his practice.
3. To stay away from evil things and do all beneficial and wholesome things and to keep pure and righteous thoughts are the essence of what the Buddha teaches. A Buddhist poem named “Seven Buddhas’ General Teachings” states: “Not to do any bad deeds, Do all the good deeds, Purify your mind, These are the teachings of all Buddhas” meaning essentially the same thing.
